금주의 묵상: 시편 19:1-14

본문: 요한삼서 1:1-14

제목: 혼이 잘 된 자가 받는 축복

          예수 그리스도의 사랑을 가장 많이 받았던 사도 요한은 하나님의 교회에 속한 거룩한 성도들이 받는 축복과 교회에게 거침돌이 되는 사람이 어떤 사람이며 또한 교회 안에서 칭찬받는 참된 일꾼에 대하여 증거하고 있습니다.

        교회의 장로로서 사도 요한은 가이오에 대하여 말할 때, 그가 지극히 사랑하는 성도이며 진리 안에서 사랑하는 자라고 말하고 있습니다. 또한 그가 가이오를 사랑하는 이유에 대하여, 교회의 성도들이 가이오 안에 진리가 있음을 증거하고 있으며 그가 진리 안에서 행한다는 소식을 듣고 그에게 편지한 것입니다. 이 편지는 성령님께서 사도 요한을 통하여 가이오에게 편지한 것을 알 수 있습니다.

        사도 요한은 가이오가 진리 안에서 행하는 것에 대하여 증거할 때에, 그가 형제들과 나그네에게 사랑으로 행하고 있으며 교회 안에 있는 성도들의 입을 통하여 그가 행하는 사랑에 대하여 증거하고 있다고 말하고 있습니다.

          교회를 방문하는 나그네란 것은 그 당시 복을전파를 위하여 헌신한 사람들이 교회를 방문할 때마다 하나님을 대하듯이 그들에게 필요한 것들을 공급하고 그들을 따뜻하게 전송하고 있다고 증거하고 있습니다. 그리스도의 복음을 전하는 전도자들은 이방인들로부터는 아무 도움도 받지 못하는 자들이기 때문에 교회 안에 있는 성도들이 그들에게 필요한 것들을 공급하고 그들을 주님의 사랑으로 영접하는 것이 마땅하기 때문이라고 증거하고 있습니다.

          사도 요한은 가이오가 이렇게 교회 안에 있는 형제들과 교회를 방문하는 나그네들을 위하여 진리 안에서 행하는 삶을 사고 있는 것에 대하여 그의 혼이 잘 되었기 때문이라고 말하고 있습니다. 사람의 혼이 잘되는 것이 무엇인지 말씀을 통하여 살펴봄으로써 우리의 혼이 잘되고 있는지에 대하여 깨닫는 시간이 되시기 바랍니다.

            하나님께서 사람을 만드실 때에 주 하나님께서 흙으로 사람을 지으시고(몸을 만드시고), 그의 콧구멍에다 생명의 호흡을 불어넣으시니(하나님의 영을 불어넣으심으로써 영을 만드시니) 사람이 살아 있는 혼이 되었더라(창 2:7).

          그렇습니다! 하나님께서는 자신이 성부, 성자, 성령, 세 신격(God head)을 가지신 것처럼 사람을 만드실 때 자신의 형상과 자신의 모습대로 영, 혼, 육 셋으로 민들어서 이 셋이 하나가 되도록 만드신 것입니다. 하나님 아버지가 본체이시고 아들 하나님이신 주 예수 그리스도가 그분의 영광의 광채시며 그분의 인격의 정확한 형상(히 1:1)이신 것처럼 사람의 몸은 사람의 혼이 형상으로 나타난 것이며, 영은 영이신 하나님과 교제할 수 있도록 만드신 것입니다.

        사람이 창조되었을 때에 그들은 어떤 옷도 입지 않고 있었던 것을 성경을 통해서 알 수가 있습니다. 주 예수 그리스도께서 하나님 아버지의 본체의 영광스러운 형상으로서 하나님 아버지의 영광의 광채를 나타내셨던 것은 그분께서는 죄를 알지도 못하신 분이셨기 때문입니다(고후 5:21). 그러나 첫 사람이 범죄하였을 때 하나님의 영광이 떠나가게 되었고 그들은 자신들이 벌거벗은 것을 보고 하나님의 눈을 피해 숨었던 것입니다. 사도 바울은 이에 대하여, “모든 사람이 죄를 지었으므로 하나님의 영광에 이르지 못하다가.”(롬 3:23)라고 증거하고 있습니다.

          첫 사람이 죄를 지었을 때 하나님께서 미리 말씀하신 대로 그들의 몸은 살아 있었지만 그들의 영은 그 날에 이미 죽었으며 그때부터 그들의 혼은 하나님의 영광을 볼 수 없게 되었고 그들의 몸은 죄의 몸이 되어 늙어 가다가 아담의 몸은 930년을 살다가 죽었다고(창 5:5) 말씀하고 있습니다.

          하나님의 사람인 다윗 왕은 아담으로부터 이어받은 죄의 몸으로 인하여 자신이 하나님 앞에 큰 죄를 지은 후에 하나님께 기도했습니다: “내 혼이 진토에 붙어 있으니 주의 말씀으로 나를 소생시키소서.”(시 119:25)

그는 자신의 혼이 죄의 몸인 진토에 붙어 있기 때문에 자신의 혼이 죄의 몸이 원하는대로 죄를 지을 수밖에 없는 존재라는 것을 깨달았던 것입니다. 또한 그는 주의 말씀만이 그의 혼을 사망의 몸으로부터 구원할 수 있음을 알고 하나님께 구했던 것입니다. 그는 그의 혼이 잘되어야 함을 알고 하나님께 간절하게 구했습니다. 다시 말해서 그는 하나님의 말씀으로 영이 거듭나야 됨을 알았기 때문에 앞으로 이 세상에 나타나실 이들 하나님을 바라보면서 간구의 기도를 드렸던 것입니다.

          또한 다윗은 그의 시편에서 고백했습니다:

“주의 율법은 완전하여 혼을 회심시키며, 주의 증거는 확실하여 우매한 자를 현명하게 만들고 주의 규례는 정당하여 마음을 기쁘게 하며, 주의 계명은 순수하여 눈을 밝게 하도다.”(시 19:7.8)

           다시 말해서, 하나님의 말씀의 법들, 즉 하나님의 율법과 하나님의 증거와 규례들과 계명들을 듣게 될 때에 사람들 자신이 죄인이라는 사실을 깨닫게 되는 것입니다. 또한 자신들의 영이 죽어 있어서 하나님을 보지 못하고 알지 못함을 알게 되어야 하나님이신 주 예수 그리스도를 믿지 않은 것을 회개하고 영접함으로써 영이 거듭나고 혼이 소생하게 되어 그의 혼이 회심한다고 증거한 것입니다.

            사도 베드로는 사람의 혼이 구원을 받아야 함에 대하여 증거했습니다: “너희가 그를 보지 못하였으나 사랑하며, 지금도 그를 보지 못하나 믿고 있으며, 또 말할 수 없이 영광을 가득찬 기쁨으로 즐거워하나니 이는 너희의 믿음의 결과, 곧 너희 혼들의 구원을 받음이니라.”(벧전 1:8,9)

          혼이 구원받는 일에 대하여 우선 먼저 영이 다시 태어나야 함에 대하여 사도 베드로가 증거했습니다:

“너희가 거듭난 것은 썩어질 씨로 된 것이 아니라 썩지 아니할 씨로 된 것이니 살아있고 영원히 거하는 하나님의 말씀으로 되었느니라.”(벧전 1:23)

           또한 하나님의 말씀이신 주 예수 그리스도께서도 자신을 믿어 구원받을 것에 대하여 말씀하셨습니다: “사람이 거듭나지 아니하면 하나님의 나라(왕국)를 볼 수 없느니라…사람이 물과 성령으로 태어나지 아니하면 하나님의 나라(왕국)에 들어갈 수 없느니라.”(요 3:3,5)

         그렇습니다! 혼이 잘되는 것은 혼이 구원받을 때 잘 되는 것입니다. 율법을 들어 자신이 죄인 것을 깨닫고 모든 율법의 죄들을 그의 몸에 대신 지시고 죽으심으심으로써 모든 죄들을 제거하신 주 예수 그리스도를 믿고 영접하게 될 때 영이 다시 태어나고 혼이 죄와 사망과 저주와 지옥 형벌로부터 영원히 구원받게 되는 것입니다. 뿐만 아니라 살아있고 활력이 있는 양날 가진 어떤 칼보다도 예리한 하나님의 말씀이 혼과 영, 그리고 관절과 골수를 찔러 가르고 마음의 셍각들과 의도들이 드러나게 될 때에(히 4:12) 그리스도의 할례를 통하여 죄의 몸을 벗어버리게 됨으로써 죄의 몸으로부터 구원을 받게 되는 것입니다(골 2:11).

          그렇습니다! 영이 거듭나고 혼이 죄의 몸으로부터 구원받아 혼이 잘 될 때에 거듭난 영 안에 계시는 진리시며 하나님의 말씀아신 주 예수 그리스도께 복종하게 됨으로써 진리 안에서 행하게 되는 것입니다. 사도 요한은 가이오의 혼이 잘됨으로써 진리 안에서 하나님의 사랑을 가지고 형제들과 나그네를 섬기는 가이오에게 “네 혼이 잘 됨같이 네가 번성하고 강건하기를 바라노라.”고 말하면서 그를 축복한 것입니다.

번성하고 강건한 것은 육신적인 번성이나 육신적인 강건뿐만 아니라 진리 안에서 영육 간에 주시는 하나님의 축복을 말한 것입니다.

            또한 사도 요한은 교회 안에 악한 일꾼과 참된 일꾼이 함께 거한다는 것에 대하여 가이오에게 편지하고 있습니다. 악한 일꾼인 디오트레폐에 대하여, 그는 형제들을 섬기지 않고 오히려 자신이 으뜸이라고 여기며 섬김을 받으려 하는 자라고 말하고 있습니다. 뿐만 아니라 사도 요한 같은 주의 종들이 교회를 방문해도 영접하지 않고 악한 말로 오히려 헐뜯고 형제들도 영접하지 않을뿐 아니라 형제들을 영접하는 사람들을 방해하여 그렇게 행하는 자들을 방해하여 교회에서 내어쫓는다고 증거했습니다. 이런 일들은 오늘날 교회들 안에서도 비일비재하게 행해지고 있는 것입니다.

          이런 경고의 말씀을 가이오에게 전한 사도 요한은 그가 사랑하는 가이오에게, 악한 것을 따르지 말고 선한 것을 따르라고 권면하면서 선을 행하는 자는 하나님께 속하였으나, 악을 행하는 자는 하나님을 보지 못하였다고 증거했습니다.

          마지막으로 참된 일꾼인 데메트리오에 대하여 말할 때에, 참된 일꾼은 모든 사람으로부터 그리고 진리의 말씀으로부터 그에 대하여 좋은 평판을 받은 자라고 증거했습니다.

           사도 바울은 혼이 구원받아 잘되었지만 구원받은 후 얼마 동안은 영적으로 혼란기가 있었다고 고백했습니다:

“내 지체들 속에 있는 또 하나의 법이 내 생각의 법과 싸워 나를 내 지체들 속에 있는 죄의 법에게로 사로잡아 오는 것을 보는도다. 오, 나는 비참한 사람이로다. 누가 이 사망의 몸에서 나를 구해 낼 것인가?”(롬 7:23,24)

            그러나 그는 마침내 예수 그리스도 안에 있는 자들에게는 결코 정죄함, 죄 의식이 있어서는 안된다고 증거했으며 그러기 위해서는 육신을 따라가지 말고 성령을 따라가야 하며 이미 그리스도인들은 세상에 있는 죄와 사망의 법으로부터 나와 생명의 성령의 법 안으로 들어왔다고 증거했습니다(롬 8:1,2)

        그가 골로새 교회 성도들에게 편지할 때에 죄와 사망의 법으로부터 해방되어 생명의 성령의 법 안에 있음에 대해 그것을 그리스도의 할례라고 증거했으며 거듭난 그리스도인들은 이미 죽음 죄의 몸을 벗어버린 자들이라고 증거했습니다(골 2:11). 다시 말해서 거듭난 그리스도인들은 휴거될 때에 물리적으로 죽을 몸을 벗어버리고 죽지 않고 썪지 않고 죄가 없는 영화로운 몸으로 변화되지만 이 세상에 거하는 동안에도 이미 휴거된 자들처럼 살 수 있다는 것입니다.

       그렇습니다! 하나님의 교회 안에는 오늘날도 하나님께 사랑 받는 형제자매들이 있는가 하면 그들을 괴롭히고 주의 종들을 핍박하는 사람들도 있으며 참된 종이 되어 사람과 하나님의 말씀으로 좋은 평판을 받는 자들도 있는 것입니다. 그러므로 우리의 혼이 죽은 죄의 몸을 따라가지 말고 진리에 순종함으로써 성령을 따라가는 삶을 살 때, 우리 모두는 혼이 잘되어 번성하고 영육 간에 강건한 축복을 누리는 사랑받는 자녀들이 되는 것입니다.

Meditation of the week: Psalms 19:1-14

Main scripture: 3John 1:1-14

Subject: The blessing for them whose soul prosper

            Apostle John who is the most beloved disciple testifies of the blessing for the holy saints; and he also testifies of them that are the stumbling stone; and of good servants that are praised by the saints in the church.

          Apostle John as an elder testifies of Gaius saying, he is well beloved one in the truth. Of the reason why he loves Gaius, the brethren of the church testifies of the truth that is in him; and he walks in the truth. Apostle John wrote to Gaius in the Holy Ghost.

            When Apostle John testifies of that Gaius walks in the truth, he testifies, he does faithfully whatsoever he does to the brethren, and to strangers; the saints in the church witness of his charity.

          The strangers who visit the church are the evangelists dedicated to the Lord; Gaius treated them supplying their needs as he did to the Lord. The strangers that preach the word of God never took anything of the Gentiles for the sake of the name of the Lord; so it is proper that the saints in the church are supposed to supply their needs with the love of God.

            Apostle John testifies of the life of Gaius that he does faithfully to brethren in the church, and takes care of the stranger visiting the church, because his soul prospers. Then, what is the prosperity of soul? What about searching the scriptures to understand of it?

              The LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul (Gen. 2:7)

              Yeah! As the LORD God has three God heads in one, he made man in his image and his likeness forming man of three parts as spirit and soul and body in one. As the Father God is the original being, and God the Son is the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person (Heb. 1:1), the body of man is the image of the soul, and the spirit of man was made so that man may be able to have fellowship with God that is spirit.

                When man was formed, he was not clothed with any garment as testified by the scripture. The Lord Jesus Christ is the glorious image of the Father God, and revealed the brightness of the glory of the Father God, because he knew no sin at all (2Cor. 5:21)

But the first man sinned against the LORD God, the glory of God departed from him; and they hided himself before the LORD God seeing his nakedness.

Apostle Paul testified of this:

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”(Rom. 3;23)

           When the first man sinned, his spirit was dead on that day as the LORD God spoke unto him even though his body was still alive, but even his body was getting old unto death in the age of 930(Gen. 5:5).

                The man of God, king David prayed unto the LORD after he sinned because of the sinful body that was inherited from Adam:

“My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word.”(Ps. 119:25)

He understood that he couldn’t help sinning following the lust of the flesh, for his soul was cleaved to the sinful body. Knowing that only the word of God could deliver his soul form the body of death, he seek the LORD with prayer. He knew that his soul should prosper, and he asked the LORD sincerely. In other word, he knew that only the word of God could make his spirit to be born again; and he seek the LORD for that looking forward God the Son to appear in the future.

              King David confessed unto the LORD in his psalm saying,

“The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.

The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.”(Ps. 19:8,9)

              In other word, upon hearing the laws of the word of God such as the law of God, the testimony of God, his statutes and his commandment give understanding unto man as sinner before God. When man understands that his spirit is dead so that he cannot see God nor know him, he is to repent that he not believed in the Lord Jesus Christ that is God himself, and receive him as the Lord and Saviour to make his spirit of born again of the Spirit, and to save his soul to be converted.

              Apostle Peter testified of the salvation of the soul of man:

“Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.”(1Pet. 1:8,9)

               Of the salvation of the soul, he testified of regeneration of the spirit first:

“Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.”(1Pet. 1:23)

           The Lord Jesus Christ that is the Word of God testified of the salvation of man through believing in him:

“Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God…. Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”(John 3:3,5)

             Yeah! The soul of man prospers when man is saved. First of all, hearing the law of God to understand that he is sinner; and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ that died for him bearing all the sins of the law to take away all sins, his spirit is revived to be born again; and his soul is to be delivered forever from sin and death and curses and the eternal punishment in the hell. And when the word of God that is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword pierces to divide asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joint and marrow, it discern the thoughts and intents of the heart of man (Heb. 4:12). And thereafter, putting off the body of sin through the circumcision of Christ, man is to be delivered from the body of sin as well(Col. 2:11)

            Yeah! When spirit is born again and soul is delivered from the body of sin, soul prospers finally. Then, we can obey the Lord Jesus Christ that is the truth as well as the Word of God in the born again spirit so that we are able to walk in the truth. Apostle John blessed Gaius whose soul prospered and served the brethren and the strangers in the truth with the love of God:

 “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”(3John 1:2)

Prosperity and health means the spiritual blessing beyond Physical ones.

            Apostle John also wrote unto Gaius to let him know that wicked brothers gather together with good ones. Of the wicked one, he wants to be the first one in the church not ministering other brethren but to be ministered. And such kind of brothers are not willing to welcome the servants of the Lord as Apostle John, but they rather prating against them with malicious words; and not content therewith, neither he receive the brethren, and forbid them that would , and cast them out of the church. Unfortunately, such kinds of things are still done in the churches of God.

          After Apostle John spoke unto Gaius of the things as warning, he encouraged him saying, beloved, follow not that is evil, but that which is good. He that does good is of God; but he that does evil has not seen God.

            Finally, Apostle John testified of Demetrius that is good servant saying, he has good report of all men, and of the truth itself.

            Apostle Paul confessed of the spiritual confusion for some time after he was born again saying,

“But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?”(Rom 7:23,24)

             Finally, he testified saying, there is therefore now no condemnation (guilty feeling) to them which are in Christ Jesus; he also said, not to be in condemnation we should not walk after the flesh, but after the Spirit, for the Christians are in the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus, being delivered from the law of sin and death (Rom. 8:1,2).

                When Apostle Paul testified unto the saints in Colossians of the delivering into the law of the Spirit of life from the law of sin and death through the circumcision of Christ. That is to say, the born again Christian has already put off the body of sin (Col. 2:11). In other word, born again Christian can live as if he has already raptured even before he is clothed with the body of immortal and incorruptible in the day of rapture.

              Yeah! In the church of God, there are beloved brothers and sisters as well as they that persecute them as well as the servants of God. There are also good servants that have good report of all men, and of the truth itself. Therefore, when our souls obey the truth in the Spirit not following the body of sin, our souls shall prosper together with prosperity and good health to be loved by God the Father. Amen! Hallelujah!
