금주의 묵상: 시편2:1-12

본문 말씀: 창세기 15:1-21

제목: 하나님을 기쁘시게 하는 믿음

          주 하나님께서 아브람을 부르시면서 “너는 네 고향과 네 친족과 네 아비의 집을 떠나 내가 네게 보여줄 땅으로 가라. 내가 너로 큰 민족을 이루게 할 것이며 네게 복을 주고 네 이름을 위대하게 하리니, 너는 복이 되리라. 너를 축복하는 자들에게 내가 복을 주고 너를 저주하는 자를 저주하리라. 네 안에서 땅의 모든 족속들이 복을 받을 것이라.”(창 12:1-3)고 약속하셨습니다.

         하나님의 부르심을 받은 아브람은 칠십오 세가 되었을 때 롯과 함께 하란을 떠났습니다. 그에게는 아직 자녀가 없었습니다. 하나님께서 그에게 하신 약속은 그에게 아들을 주실 것이며 그의 자손들을 통하여 모든 족속들이 복을 받을 것이라는 것이었습니다. 그러나 그가 떠난지 오랜 후에도 하나님께서 여전히 그에게 아들을 주시지 않으셨습니다.

           오늘 우리가 읽은 본문 말씀은 오랜 세월이 지난 후 환상 가운데 나타나신 하나님께서 그에게 말씀하시기를, “아브람아, 두려워 말라. 나는 너의 방패요, 너의 지극히 큰 상이니라.”고 말씀하셨습니다. 자식을 주실 것이라는 말씀 대신에 그에게 큰 상을 주실 것이라고 말씀하신 것입니다. 그러나 아브람은 하나님께서 친 자식을 주시는 대신에 자신의 집에서 태어난 자신의 종 엘리에셀을 자신의 양자로 삼아 그의 상속자가 되게 할 것이라고 말씀드렸습니다.

            이때에 하나님께서 그에게 말씀하셨습니다:

“이 사람은 너의 상속자가 되지 않을 것이니, 네 자신의 몸에서 나올 자가 네 상속자가 되리라.”

이제 늙어 자식을 생산할 능력이 소진 되어 있을 아브람으로서는 이해하기 힘든 말씀이었습니다. 이때에 하나님께서 그를 밖으로 데리고 나가 말씀하셨습니다:

“이제 하늘을 쳐다보고 별들을 셀 수 있다면 그 별들을 세어보아라. 너의 씨가 이와 같으리라.”

              이 말씀을 들은 아브람이 주 하나님을 믿었을 때 주께서 그에게 의로 여기셨습니다. 하나님의 말씀을 믿은 것을 의로 여기셨던 것입니다. 그가 주님의 말씀을 믿었던 것은 그가 주 하나님을 믿었기 때문이었던 것입니다. 이 시대에 어떤 죄인일지라도 그리스도께서 그의 죄를 위하여 성경대로 죽으시고 장사되셨다가 성경대로 다시 살아나신 것을 믿으면 하나님께서는 복음의 말씀을 믿었기 때문에 의로 여기시는 것입니다. 바로 하나님의 독생자를 통하여 그를 믿는 자는 아무도 멸망치 않고 영원한 생명을 주시는 하나님을 믿음으로 인해 의로 여기시는 것입니다.

              하나님께서는 아브람의 믿음을 의로 여기신 후에 하나님께서는 아브람과 영원히 파기할 수 없는 약속의 말씀을 주셨습니다. 어떤 한 편이라도 어기는 경우에는 쪼개진 짐승처럼 쪼개짐을 받을 것이라는 언약이었습니다. 하나님께서 자신의 생명을 걸고 아브람과 맺은 언약인 것입니다:

“내가 이 땅을 이집트 강에서부터 큰 강 유프라테스까지 네 씨에게 주었으니 켄인들과 크니스인들과 캇본인들과 힛인들과 프리스인들과  르파인들과 아모리인들과 카나안인들과 기르가스인들과 여부스인들의 땅이니라.”

          그러나 하나님께서는 그에게 구십구 세가 될 때까지 그에게 어떤 자식도 주시지 않으셨습니다. 마침내 그가 구십구 세가 되었을 때 다시 나타나신 하나님께서는 또 한 번 그에게 말씀하셨습니다:

“나는 전능한 하나님이라. 내 앞에서 행하라. 그리고 너는 완전하라. 내가 나와 너 사이에 내 언약을 세우며, 너를 심히 번성케 하리라.”(창 17:1-2)

하나님 앞에 엎드린 아브람에게 다시 한 번 말씀하셨습니다:

“보라, 내가 너와 더불어 내 언약을 세우노니, 너는 많은 민족들의 아비가 되리라. 네 이름을 더 이상 아브람이라 부르지 않고, 네 이름을 아브라함이라 하리니, 이는 내가 너를 많은 민족들의 아비가 되게 하려 하였음이라. 내가 너를 심히 다산하게 하리니, 내가 네게서 민족들을 이루며, 네게서 왕들이 나오게 하리라. 내가 나와 네 뒤에 올 네 씨 사이에 대대로 내 언약을 세우리니, 영원한 언약을 삼고 너와 네 씨의 하나님이 되리라. 내가 너와 네 뒤에 올 네 씨에게 네가 타국인으로 있는 땅, 즉 카나안의 모든 땅을 주어 영원한 소유가 되게 하며, 나는 그들의 하나님이 되리라”(창 17:4-8)

            그렇습니다! 하나님께서는 지금도 그분을 믿는 자들에게 자신이 전능하신 하나님이신 것을 먼저 보여주시기를 원하시는 것입니다. 또한 전능하신 하나님을 믿는 행위를 보여줄 것을 원하시는 것입니다.  . 하나님께서는 아브라함이 이십오 년을 기다리게 하신 것은 자신과 그의 아내가 생리적으로는 자식을 생산할 수 있는 가능성이 전무할 때를 기다리시다가 자신이 전능하신 하나님이심을 나타내시기를 원하셨던 것입니다.

             이 시대에 하나님을 믿고 주 예수 그리스도의 복음을 믿어 성령으로 태어나서 하나님의 자녀기 된 사람들 역시 전능하신 하나님을 믿는 열매를 나타냄으로써 이 세상을 통치하는 마귀를 두려워하지 않고 세상을 이기도록 하시는 것입니다. 그러므로 이 진리를깨달은 사도 요한은 “하나님께로부터 태어난 자는 누구든지 세상을 이기기 때문이라. 세상을 이기는 승리는 이것이니, 곧 우리의 믿음이라. 예수께서 하나님의 아들이심을 믿는 자 외에 세상을 이기는 자가 누구냐?”(요일 5:4-5)라고 증거했습니다.

            백 세에 얻은 아들 이삭을 모리아 산들 중 산에서 그를 번제로 드리라는 하나님의 말씀에 그는 조금도 의심치 않고 아침 일찍 일어나서 그를 데리고 모리아 산으로 데리고 올라가서 그를 죽이려고 칼을 들었습니다. 이때에 그에게 나타난 천사가 “네 손을 아이에게 대지 말고 아무 일도 그에게 하지 말라. 네가 네 아들 네 독자라도 내게 아끼지 아니하였으니, 나는 이제 네가 하나님을 두려워하는 줄 아노라”(창 22:12)고 말했습니다.

          이 일에 대하여 사도 야고보는 성령 안에서 증거했습니다:

“우리의 조상 아브라함이 자기 아들 이삭을 제단에 드렸을 때, 그가 행함으로 말미암아 의롭게 되지 아니하였느냐? 믿음이 어떻게 그 행위와 더불어 작용하였으며, 믿음이 행함으로 온전케 되었음을 네가 보느냐? 그리하여 ‘아브라함이 하나님을 믿으니 그것이 그에게 의로 여겨졌느니라.’는 성경이 이루어졌고, 그는 하나님의 친구라 불렸느니라. 이제 너희가 알거니와 사람이 행함으로써 의롭게 되는 것이요, 믿음으로만 되는 것이 아니니라. 이와같이 창녀 라합도 정탐꾼들을 영접하고 다른 길로 그들을 보냈을 때 행함으로 의롭게 되지 아니하였느냐? 영이 없는 몸이 죽은 것같이 행함이 없는 믿음도 죽은 것이니라.”(약 2:21-24)

              그러나 아브라함이 하나님의 말씀에 따라 독자 이삭을 희생제물로 드린 행위가 어떤 것인지에 대하여 히브리서에서 사도 바울은 그의 행위가 바로 믿음 자체였음에 대하여 증거했습니다:

“믿음으로 아브라함은 시험을 받을 때(tried) 이삭을 제물로 드렸으니, 그 약속들을 받은 자가 그의 독생자를 드린 것이라. 그에 관하여 말씀하시기를 ‘네 씨라 불릴 자는 이삭에게서 난 자라.’고 하셨으니 그는 하나님께서 죽은 자들로부터 그를 살리실 수 있으리라고 생각하였음이라. 이로써 그는 모형으로 그를 죽은 자 가운데서 다시 받은 것이니라.”(히 11:17-19)

              사도 바울은 아브라함에게 약속하신 씨에 대하여 그 씨가 육신의 씨인 이삭이 아니라 그는 다만 앞으로 이 세상에 오셔서 모리아 산, 즉 갈보리 십자가에서 세상 죄를 위한 희생제물이 되실 그리스도의 모형이며 아브라함이 이삭을 죽인 후에 하나님께서 다시 살리실 것을 믿은 것처럼 주 예수 그리스도를 죽은 자 가운데서 다시 살리신 하나님을 믿는 자들이 받을 구원에 대하여 증거한 것입니다:

“이제 그 약속들은 아브라함과 그의 씨에게 하신 것인데 많은 사람을 가리켜 씨들이라고 말씀하지 아니하시고 한 사람을 가리켜 너의 씨라고 말씀하셨으니 그는 그리스도시라.”(갈 3:16)

              이 시대에 믿음을 통하여 은혜로 구원을 베푸시는 은혜의 복음에 대하여 계시를 받은 사도 바울은 아브라함의 예를 들어서 우리가 받은 구원에 대하여 다시 한 번 증거했습니다:

“그러면 우리 조상 아브라함이 육신에 관하여 무엇을 얻었다고 말할 수 있으리요? 만이 아브라함이 행위로써 의롭게 되었다면 그에게 자랑할 것이 있겠지만 하나님 앞에서는 없느니라. 성경이 무엇이라고 말하고 있느냐? 아브라함이 하나님을 믿었더니 그것이 그에게 의로 여겨졌느니라. 이제 일하는 사람에게는 그 보수가 은혜로 여겨지지 않고 빚으로 여겨지지만, 행함이 없어도 불경건한 자를 위롭다 하시는 그분을 믿는 사람에게는 그의 믿음이 의로 여겨지느니라. 행함이 없어도 하나님께서 의롭다고 여기시는 사람의 복에 관하여 다윗도 말하였으니 말하기를 ‘죄악들이 용서받고 죄들이 가려진 사람은 복이 있고 주께서 죄들을 인정하지 아니하실 사람은 복이 있도다.’라고 하였느니라.”(롬 4:1-8)

                사도 바울은 하나님을 믿은 아브라함의 믿음이 어떤 것인지에 대하여 증거할 때에 이 시대에 주 예수 그리스도를 믿는 믿음이 어떤 것인지에 대하여 동시에 증거하고 있는 것입니다:

“그가 소망이 없는데도 소망 가운데 믿었으니 ‘네 씨가 그렇게 되리라.’고 말씀하신 대로 많은 민족들의 아비가 되게 하려 하심이라. 그가 믿음이 약해지지 아니하여 약 백 살이 되고서도 자기 몸이 이제 죽은 것으로 생각하지 아니하고 또 사라의 태도 죽은 것으로 생각지 않았느니라. 그는 믿음 없음으로 인하여 하나님의 약속을 의심하지 아니하였고 오히려 믿음이 견고하여져서 하나님께 영광을 돌리며 약속하신 그것을 또한 이루실 것이라고 확신하였느니라. 그러므로 그에게는 믿음이 의로 여겨졌느니라.. 이제 그에게 의로 여겨졌다고 기록된 것은 아브라함만을 위한 것이 아니요, 의롭다고 여김을 받을 우리들 때문이기도 하니 곧 예수 우리 주를 죽은자들로부터 살리신 그분을 믿는 자들이라. 예수께서는 우리의 범죄함을 인하여 드려지셨고 우리의 의롭게 하심을 위하여 다시 일으켜지셨느니라.”(롬 4:18-25)

              무엇이 하나님을 기쁘시게 하는 가에 대하여 성경이 증거하는 것은, “이제 믿음은 바라는 것들에 대한 실상이요, 보이지 않는 것들에 대한 증거니, 원로들이 그것으로써 좋은 평판을 얻었느니라. 믿음으로 우리는 세상들이 하나님의 말씀으로 지어진 것을 깨닫나니 보이는 것들은 나타나는 것들로 된 것이 아니니라….믿음이 없이는 하나님을 기쁘시게 할 수 없나니, 하나님께 나아가는 자는 그분이 존재하시는 것과 그분이 자기를 열심히 찾는 자들에게 보상하시는 분이심을 믿어야 하느니라.”(히 11:1-3, 6)

             믿음의 조상 아브라함은 하나님께서 약속하신 유업을 얻을 때까지 열심히 하나님을 찾아 끝까지 의심하지 않고 믿음에 견고해짐으로써 앞으로 하나님께서 주신  유업을 누리게 될 것입니다. 그에게는 육신적인 이 땅을 유업으로 주신 것입니다. 다시 말해서 하나님의 백성 이스라엘의 영원한 조상으로서 주신 유업을 누리게 되는 것입니다. 뿐만 아니라 주 예수 그리스도의 죽으심과 장사되심과 부활하심을 믿음으로 성령으로 다시 태어난 하나님의 교회에 속한 하나님의 자녀들도 아브라함의 자손이라고 사도 바울은 증거했습니다(갈 3:7). 그가 받은 약속대로 모든 족속들이 그 안에서 복을 받게 된 것입니다. 뿐만 아니라 하나님의 자녀들은 그리스도를 위하여 고난 받은 만큼 다시 오시는 그분과 함께 영광을 받게 되는 것입니다. 사도 바울은 오늘날 하나님의 자녀들이 몸으로 행한대로 받을 유업에 대하여 로마에서 고난받고 있던 성도들에게 증거했습니다:

“자녀이면 또한 상속자들이니 하나님의 상속자들이요, 그리스도와 함께한 공동상속자들이니 우리가 그와 함께 고난을 받은 것은 함께 영광도 받게 하려 함이니라. 이는 현재의 고난들이 우리에게 나타나게 될 영광에 감히 비교되지 못한다고 내가 여기기 때문이라.”(롬 8:17-18)

Meditation of the week: Psalms 2:1-12

Main scripture: Genesis 15:1-21

Subject: The faith that please God

              The LORD God called Abram, and gave him a covenant saying, “Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: 2And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: 3And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.”(Gen. 12:1-3)

               Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him; and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran. Any child had been not given yet unto him. The LORD promised him to give him a son; and all nations of people shall be blessed through his children. But the LORD had not given him a son even after many years yet.

              In the main passage that we read today, the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, and said unto him, “Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.”(Gen. 15:1)

This time, God told him to give him great reward instead to give a son. Then Abram said unto LORD God, “What wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my houseis this Eliezer of Damascus?”

            The LORD God answered him saying, “This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir.”(Gen. 15:4)

The word of God was unreasonable  to understand unto him knowing, he was too old to reproduce a child anymore. And God brought him forth ahead, and said unto him, “Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.”(Gen. 15:5)

               Upon hearing the word of the LORD, he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness. he believed in the word of the LORD, for he believed in him. In this age of grace, whosoever believe in Christ Jesus regardless of any sinner for his death for his sin according to the scriptures, and buried and rose again the third day shall be counted it for righteousness, just because he believes in the word of the gospel. He believes in God that gives eternal life not to be perished through his only begotten Son.

                 After the LORD God counted the faith of Abram for righteousness, he gave a covenant that cannot be broken at all unto him. God shall be divided into two pieces whenever he break his covenant for Abram. His covenant for Abram was made pledging the life of God himself saying,

” Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates: 19The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites, 20And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims, 21And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.”(Gen. 15:18-21)

             But no child was born in him until he was ninety nine years old. When Abram was ninety years and nine,  the LORD appeared unto him, and said unto him once again: ” I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.  2And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.”(Gen. 17:1-2)

And Abram fell on his face; and God talked with him again saying,  “4As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.  5Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.

6And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee. 7And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.

8And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.”(Gen. 17:4-8)

              Yeah! Even nowadays, first of all, God wants to reveal himself as the Almighty God unto them that believe in him. And he also wants to see the faith from them of his OMNI-POTENT. God had waited for twenty five years until Abram and his wife had no power of reproduction of child at all to reveal himself the Almighty One unto them.

              Even the children of God born again of the Spirit through believing in the Lord Jesus Christ should be able to bear the fruit of faith of God as the Almighty One so that they may be able not to fear the Devil that is the prince of the world, and to overcome the world by their faith. Apostle John testified of the faith of the children of God: “4For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

5Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?”(1John 5:4-5)

             Abram never doubt of the LORD, when he asked him to take his only son Isaac into the land of Moriah, and offer him there for a burnt offering. He rose up early in the morning, and took Isaac to the mount of Moriah, and lifted the knife to slay his son Isaac. And angel of the LORD  called unto him out of heaven, and said unto him, “Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.

12And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.”(Gen. 22:12)

                  Apostle James testified of this:

“21Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? 22Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? 23And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. 24Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.”(James 2:21-24)

            Apostle Paul testified of the action of Abraham giving his son a burnt offering as the faith itself, In other word, without faith, he was not be able to do so: “17By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, 18Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called: 19Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.”(Heb. 11:17-19)

               Apostle Paul testified of the promised seed of Abraham that is not only his carnal seed Isaac, but Isaac is the figure of Christ that shall be a sacrifice for the sin of the world at the Calvary that is the mount of Moriah at the time of Abraham. He actually testified of them that believe in God that raised the Lord Jesus Christ from the dead as Abraham believed in God that was able to raise Isaac from the dead: “16Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.”(Gal. 3:16)

                 Apostle Paul testified once again of the salvation that we received by faith when we believed in the gospel of grace  through the ensample of Abraham:  “1What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found? 2For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. 3For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. 4Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. 5But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. 6Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, 7Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. 8Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.”(Rom. 4:1-8)

                              Apostle Paul testified of the faith of Abraham as well as the faith in the Lord Jesus Christ in this age at the same time:

“18Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations; according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.

19And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb: 20He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; 21And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. 22And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. 23Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; 24But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;

25Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.”(Rom. 4:18-25)

                 The scripture testifies of what please God:

“1Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2For by it the elders obtained a good report. 3Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear…. 6But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”(Heb. 11:1-3,6)

                  Abraham, the father of faith never doubted the promise of God through unbelief; he was strong in faith until the day of fulfillment of the covenant of God; and he shall receive the inheritance in the future when the time comes. His inheritance is pertaining to the flesh related to the earth. In other word, he shall receive the inheritance as the eternal father of Israel. In addition to this, he became the father of the children of God in the church of God saved through believing in the death of Christ and burial and resurrection as testified by Apostle Paul (gal. 3:7). As Abraham received the promise of God,  all the nations of people have been blessed in him. The children of God shall be glorified with the Lord Jesus Christ as much as they suffered with him. Apostle Paul testified of the inheritance for the children of God unto the saints in Rome that were under persecution of Roman Empire:

“17And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

18For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”(Rom. 8:17-18)
