The Meditations of the Week: Psalm 37:1-20

Text: Psalm 2:1-12

The title of the Word: The earth is given as inheritance for Israelites, and  reigning power  for the soldiers of Christ

           King Solomon, who received the wisdom of God, testified in his Ecclesiastes, ” One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh: but the earth abideth for ever.” (Eccl. 1: 4).

           The prophet Isaiah also testified of God’s word that the earth would be forever:

” For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else..” (Isa. 45:18)

          King David testified about the purpose of God creating the earth:

”  The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD’S: but the earth hath he given to the children of men..” (Psalm 115: 16)

         One of the most important things we need to know is that when the Lord Jesus Christ comes back and judges the world and builds his kingdom on the earth, he will inherit the earth unto the remnant of Israel. It is necessary to realize what kind of sovereignty the  soldiers of Christ shall receive.

         The nations of the world who do not know God’s plan for the earth are persecuting the Israelites and the soldiers of Christ in the church of God. The Psalmist prophesied:

” Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?

2The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,

3Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. “(Psalm 2: 1-3)

          All the rulers of the world for six thousand years since the giving up the reigning power of this world to the devil are still doing the vain thing. God is speaking to them:

” He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.

5Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.

6Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. “(Psalm 2: 4-6)

           Finally, God said that in the future His only begotten Son will be born in the form of a man, and will judge all nations and become the King of Kings and Lord of Lords,

” I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

8Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.

9Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.“(Psalm 2: 7-9)

          God has said many times that he will give this earth  to the people of Israel as inheritance:

   ” For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.

10For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.

11But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.… For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off. “(Psalm 37: 9 -11; 22)

            Finally, the incarnated Jesus came to Zion, Jerusalem, and said again to the Jews:

” Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.….

5Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.” (Matthew 5: 3,5)

           The kingdom of heaven Jesus spoke is not of heaven. When he came as the king of the Jew,   he said that the heavenly kingdom in the earth, that is, the millennial kingdom of Christ, will be established, and the remnant of Israel shall  inherit the earth. John the Baptist and Jesus said, “Repent, the kingdom of heaven is near!” When the king of the Jews came to the land of Judea, that the kingdom of heaven came upon the land of Israel, .

           However, most of the peoples still in the conspiracy of Satan trying to keep his kingdom for eternity are still seeking vain work, and in order to remove the Israelites from God’s promised land to Abraham (Genesis 15: 118-21) It is united. The Holy Spirit led the Psalmist Asaph to pray to God :

”  Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.

2For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.

3They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.

4They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.

5For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:

6The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;

7Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;

Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah.

9Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison:” (Psalm 83: 1-9)

         God sent a warning message to the nations that are against the will of God for Israel:

” Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.

11Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. 12Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him. “(Psalm 2: 10-12).

           Christians who became members of the church of the Lord Jesus Christ to become children of God by being saved by believing in the gospel of Christ whether they are  the Jews or  Gentiles become Christ’s bride and become one body with Him. Therefore, after he appears in the air to lift his Church up into heaven, the saints shall come  down with him when he appeared on earth at the end of the Great Tribulation to judge the world as the King of kings and Lord of Lords:

” And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.” (Revelation 19:14)

          Apostle Paul testified about the soldiers of Christ:

” Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

4No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

5And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.…
It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:

12If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:

13If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself. “(2 Tim. 2: 3-5; 11-13).

           The remnant of the Jews shall inherit the earth, but the Christians, the soldiers of Christ shall receive the great blessing of inheriting heaven and earth as the joint-heir with Him as well as reigning the earth with the Lord Jesus Christ and the one-body helping Christ  ruling  heaven and earth . They are also blessed to dwelling with him forever in the new Jerusalem. Apostle Paul wrote a letter of blessing to Christians in Rome who overcome the severe persecution in Roman Empire at that time:

” The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. 18For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.  ” (Romans 8: 16-18)
