Meditation of the week: Psalm 91:1-16

Text: 1 Thessalonians 5:1-6

Title: Wisdom of knowing the times and the seasons

          Apostle Paul testified in detail to the members of the Thessalonica church who were eagerly awaiting for the day of Christ about what should happen in 1 Thessalonians chapter 4. In the chapter 5, he testified one after another about the day of the Lord, which is related to the day of Christ, the day when the Lord Jesus Christ returns to the earth to judge the world after the great tribulation. This is a very important message given to the saints who are looking forward  more earnestly for the day of Christ (the day of the rapture) in the end times.

         He is talking about the times and the seasons. It is important to note that he was not saying of the day and the hour. When he told the saints about the day of the Lord, he not told them that they knew the day and  the hour when the day of the Lord comes  like a thief at night, but he said that they knew exactly of the times and the seasons of the day of the Lord coming.

         If so, born-again believers living in the end times must know more perfectly about the times and the seasons. In other words, it doesn’t mean that we have to know the day and the hour, but to know the times and the seasons.

           If so, we have to realize what is the meaning of the times and the seasons. . In the easiest example, from the day when doctor confirms of pregnancy for woman,   her due date of delivery is usually set up. Even though she doesn’t know exactly when she is to deliver her baby, but she can guess the times and the seasons. So, as the due date approaches, she has to awake day by day to be ready for that day  coming at any time. Apostle Paul was talking about such the times and the seasons.

         If we know when  the times and the seasons of the  day of the Lord, we may be able to know when the day of Christ is coming. According the God’s time table, the seven years great tribulation is to be followed right after the day of Christ.  Therefore,  if we know the times and the seasons when  the day of the Lord, we are able to know the day of Christ around seven years before the day of the Lord to come.  This is the reason why we have to pay attention to Apostle Paul saying that they knew exactly the times and the seasons of the day of the Lord in the Holy Spirit.

          Apostle Paul said that the Saints knew exactly that the day of the Lord would come as a thief in the night. Night means the time of spiritually sleeping. If we  live each day without knowing the times and the seasons, we shall be destroyed without any remedy when that day comes. The proverbs testify of the ending of the evil, stubborn, and discordant:

” Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy..” (Proverbs 6:15).

          Apostle Paul testifies of what the world will say when the times and the seasons approaching to  the day of the Lord to come:

” For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.” (1 Thessalonians 5:3).

         Being at peace may be when the people in the world are living joyfully in good health and economically affluent. In addition, the word “safety” means no more wars and chaos all around the world. It is no exaggeration to say that there has never been any time like this in the world during the last six thousand years of human history. Every 50 years, the Israelites who were under God’s rule of the law were granted a year of Jubilee every 50th year, so that all slaves were freed and all debts were forgiven:

” And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.” (Lev. 25:10).

         Apostle Paul might be hinting the day like Jubilee to come to the world in the future. However, no one can imagine that such the day of dream is to come  when all the habitants of the world shall enjoy financial prosperity, and all nations shall get rid of all weapons  living in peace.

         However, the Bible says that such a day will come when the Lord Jesus Christ judges the whole world and establishes his kingdom in the day of the Lord. However, it is totally unimaginable of the such day is to come before the kingdom of Christ comes. The Bible says that after the judgment of the Lord Jesus Christ on the Lord’s Day, when the kingdom of Christ comes, the world of peace and safety shall come:

” And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.” (Isaiah 2:4)

          But there is one thing for us to note is that even before the Lord Jesus Christ comes,  the world of peace and safety shall come. Through the prophet Daniel, God prophesied that in the Great Tribulation, the Antichrist would bring false peace into the world to destroy the world:

“And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand. “(Dan. 8:25)

          Satan, the devil, who has been ruling this world  for last six thousand years, has been deceiving the world using his principalities and powers, the rulers of the world’s darkness, and evil spirits making propaganda for the world peace. Finally, the UN, founded in 1948 for the world peace, has been deceiving the world saying that it is works for the world peace until now, but rather, there is no peace in the world, but only rumors of war and turmoil are heard.

          However, Apostle Paul hinted that in the future  would come the day of peace and safety.. He also testified that from the time these words are heard from the mouths of the people of the world, the tomes and the seasons of the Lord Jesus Christ’s judgment are very near. Therefore, he warned that when such a time suddenly comes, as if a pregnant woman suddenly comes in labor, we have to awake to know that the Lord’s Day is imminent.

          In recent years, We hear that signs of a time of peace and safety are slowly coming. So far, no one can guarantee when this will happen, but the news is flowing out that the laws have been enacted for this to happen. Very few people know of it right now, but they say that sooner or later it’s a matter of time before  for everyone in the world to get to know publically. Still, many people doubt and consider it to be fake news, but little by little the signs are appearing. Above all, it is a time when  Apostle Paul might reveal the tes and the seasons of the coming the Lord’s Day.

          It is known about the so-called as NESERA and GESERA that are being made to bring peace and safety to the world. NESERA is a act for American Economic Security and Restoration, and GESERA is for the Global one. These acts have not been officially announced yet. When these are officially in effect, we are able to know more clearly the times and the seasons for the day of the Lord to come. Then we are also able to know the times and the seasons for the day of Christ so that we may be able to be awaken ourselves to be ready for the day of Rapture.
