Speech title: Blessings of those who wait for the Lord in the light of life
Doctrinally, the text is about the remnant of the Jews who received the light of the Lord God during the Great Tribulation. At that time, the remnant of the Jews who were saved by receiving the light of God’s word are testifying that they will not be afraid of anyone by receiving the power of God’s life.
The text even prophesies their enemies and adversaries, the evil followers of the Antichrist, will come to eat the flesh of the remnant of the Jews and end up stumbling. It is a prophecy of devastating times when people will attempt to eat human flesh due to severe famine during the Great Tribulation.
God is the Creator of Light:
¶ And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. (Genesis 1:3-4 KJV)
The light God created is not the light of the sun:
And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the fourth day. (Genesis 1:16-19 KJV)
Apostle John testified of this light:
¶ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. ¶ And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. (John 1:1-5 KJV)
God, who is the Word, is who created light with His Word. Also, in Him was life. That life is not simply biological life, but an eternal life. Also, the life in Him is the eternal life that shines upon people, given unto those who believe in Him through the Holy Spirit to transform the natural man into the spiritual man.
Apostle John’s testimony continues:
That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:9-13 KJV)
Something we need to know through the testimony of Apostle John, it is the fact that accepting Christ means believing in Him, not just confessing with our lips. And in order to believe in Him, we must know Him. In Jesus’ closing prayer, we learn what those who believe in Him and receive eternal life must know:
And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. (John 17:3 KJV)
Apostle John testified that in the beginning he was the Word that was with God, and that God the Creator appeared to the world in flesh:
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. (John 1:14 KJV)
Apostle John once again testified of Christ, the Word of life, who appeared in the flesh:
¶ That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. ¶ This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. (1 John 1:1-5 KJV)
He also testified about what sort of life Christians should live in the world, who believed in Christ and received the light of eternal life:
If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. ¶ If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. (1 John 1:6-10 KJV)
We must deeply meditate on the testimony of who received the light of salvation from today’s main text:
¶ A Psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? (Psalm 27:1 KJV)
Those who abide in the light and have fellowship among the saints in Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit fear no one in the world.
After Christ Jesus, the incarnated God, left the world and the Holy Spirit came, the light of life within Him has been filled in His Word. Apostle Paul testified about this to the pastor Timothy:
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: (2 Timothy 3:16 KJV)
The psalmist also testified of how every word of God have been written and preserved:
The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted. (Psalm 12:6-8 KJV)
The translation of the Holy Bible, the Word of God has been preserved from Hebrew, Greek, Aramaic, Latin, German, then the English King James Bible. From there into many other languages including Korean, Satan has relentlessly used his servants throughout history to sinfully alter and prevent the publication of the Holy Bible. God has preserved His words until now even in the midst of wicked people everywhere. In particular, in order to destroy the English King James Bible, the Roman Catholic Church killed many servants of the Lord. Nevertheless, it is God’s grace that the unaltered King James Bible has been placed in our hands
Numerous religious philosophers who did not receive the light of God’s eternal life believed that their scriptures, which is not the light of life, were the truth, and had been respected and worshiped by countless people by thoroughly believing and practicing the words written in them.
If Christians who have received the light of the Word of God, walk fully in the Word of the Light of The Truth. According to the testimony of the psalmist, in faith we can live our life fearlessly in the world, but be bold until the day when our heads are lifted up above our enemies who surround us as we wait for the appearing of the Lord Jesus Christ, the light of truth (Psalm 27:6).
Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. (Psalm 27:14 KJV)
